2020 Olympics: Niyonsaba, disqualified in the 5000m race

Long awaited by the Burundians, the world champion in the 800m, Francine Niyonsaba has just been disqualified during her first race at the Tokyo Games.
Yet well on the way to securing a place in the final of this race, with a time of 15’56 “14” ‘, she will be disqualified for having broken a course that was not hers.
Just after this bad start, the Olympic medalist at the Rio Olympics wanted to reassure her audience that she still stands for the rest of the competition despite this disqualification.

Francine Niyonsaba is also expected in the 10,000m where she promises not to leave anything on her course.

Up to only two Burundians are still waiting to perform on the track including Eric Nzikwinkunda on the 800m and Olivier Irabaruta who will close the Olympics in Marathon.
