2021 Olympics: positive for Covid, Moroccan wrestler Ait Ouagram forfeit
Hard blow for the Moroccan Zied Ait Ouagram. The wrestler will no longer be able to participate in the Tokyo Olympics after having indeed contracted the coronavirus.
The athlete made the announcement this Thursday, July 29. “The dream of competing in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics evaporated after being infected with the coronavirus. My dream, that of the children, of my father and my fans, is evaporating ”, writes the athlete. The latter had notably won the qualification during the tournament in Hammamet (Tunisia) last April.
“I worked hard. God testify how many difficulties and obstacles I overcame to participate in this Olympic meeting”, the wrestler still laments.
Zied Ait Ouagram remains one of the most famous wrestlers of his generation. He won 11 African championship titles, including a last continental coronation in 2019. At the Olympics, he first represented Tunisia in London (2012), before choosing Morocco, whose colors he defended in Rio de Janeiro (2016)
