2022 World Cup: Fifa sanctions the DR Congo
FIFA sanctions DR Congo for invading the field
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) fined DR Congo 5,000 Swiss francs (around 4,700 euros). This sanction is hardly surprising. It was also expected because of the invasion of the playing area of the TP Mazembe stadium during the match between DR Congo and Tanzania, on September 2 on the sidelines of the first day of qualifying for the Qatar World Cup. 2022.
During this match without a winner (1-1), several organizational problems were even noted. Access to the stadium was indeed very difficult. And at the end of the meeting, the organizers did not secure the handrail well. Spectators were thus able to descend on the lawn while the players had not yet returned to the locker rooms.
