Mohamed Salah is causing turmoil in Nigeria. The Liverpool striker will be the spearhead of Egypt who challenge the Super Eagles on Tuesday, January 11 for the first match of Group D of CAN 2021. And the Nigerians are trying to solve the equation that constitutes the 29-year-old Pharaoh , Premier League top scorer with 16 goals.
For Nigerian legend Jay Jay Okocha, Nigeria may well solve the Salah problem. He underlines that the Pharaoh is less radiant in selection. “ African football is quite difficult and unpredictable so Salah can easily be stopped unlike in Europe. It can be scored twice, depending on the coach’s system, ” said the 1994 African champion .
Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa finds that Nigeria has better performing players than Salah. “ They only talk about Salah but we have Chukwueze and a lot of wingers who are more dangerous, so their own defenders will think of us too,” he said.
Salah has been silent in front of goals with Egypt for some time. Nigeria-Egypt kicks off at 5 p.m. GMT in Douala.
