Uganda were to face Gabon and Mauritania in friendlies in the United Arab Emirates on December 30 and January 2. But she had to cancel her trip due to restrictions imposed by the health crisis. The Cranes will however play five friendlies in the coming weeks.

The East African selection will fly on January 10 for Turkey and Antalya, where it will successively face Iceland (the 12th), the Romanian club FC Botosani (the 15th) and Moldova (the 18th). Then the Ugandans will travel to Baghdad to challenge Iraq on January 21, before making a detour via Manama, where they will face Bahrain six days later.

For this long tour, Serbian coach of Cranes, Milutin Sredojevic , has called 45 players, including only two expatriates. They are goalkeepers Charles Lukwago (Saint-George, Ethiopia), and Isima Watenga (Chippa United, South Africa). Forward Patrick Kaddu, currently without a club, has also been called up.
