One eleven from the DRC
The Democratic Republic of Congo must face Madagascar on October 7 and 10 for the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup (3 rd and 4 th days). But the Leopards (3rd, 2 points) will do without some of their elements. Meschak Elia, Yannick Bolasie and Gaël Kakuta are indeed forfeited for this double confrontation. The Congolese Federation of Association Football (FECOFA) has also announced the package of three players on its site.
For Gaël Kakuta, FECOFA evokes an injury. The player will therefore have to wait to find the Leopards. He spoke of his regrets for missing the first two days of the World Cup qualifiers.
For Meschak Elia , however, everything seemed in order for the Young Boys of Bern player to make his return after two years of absence. But the dispute between him and Tout Puissant Mazembe, his former club that he left fraudulently, was once again right on him. The case is also still in the hands of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Elia entered Switzerland with refugee status, after escaping from Belgium. He still cannot travel to Kinshasa to honor a selection, for fear of reprisals from Mazembe.
As for Bolasie, no reason has been put forward regarding his package. Coach Hector Cúper has also convened Ngandu Kayand Joel and Andrew Bukia to replace three players unavailable.
