Congo: the calendar of the women’s football championship unveiled
Congolese footballers will return to competition.
No more lethargy for Congolese footballers. After several months of inactivity, due to Covid-19, they will return to the fields with the start of the 2020-2021 national women’s football championship.
The competition schedule was unveiled this Saturday, May 29 by the National Football League (LINAFOOT). The first leg will take place from June 3 to July 22. Twelve clubs will be on the starting line to snatch the crown from defending champion AS Epah-Ngamba from Pointe-Noire.
The reigning champion will make her debut on July 3 (3 pm UTC) with the reception of Tula Ka Tula from Brazzaville, at the Pointe-Noire sports complex.
Among the peculiarities of this edition of the women’s football championship, the passage from 7 to 12 clubs and the entry into the running of a club from a region in the interior of the country. This is FC Bouenza from the eponymous department. A sort of response to the appeal launched last year by the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT).
