Burkina: Benin and Ghana dominate the Grand Marathon International du Kouritenga



Ghanaian and Beninese runners dominated the first edition of the Grand Marathon International du Kouritenga in the central-eastern region of Burkina Faso on Sunday December 18.

Molan Yamputi (Ghana) won the men’s race of 42.195 km in 2h 24 min 11 secs. He beat his compatriots Frempong Kwabena (2h 24 min 44 sec) and Teye Simon Ayeteh (2h 25 min 53 sec). The first Burkinabe Inoussa Simporé was ranked sixth with a time of 2h 35 min 30 sec.

For the women, the race was held over a distance of 21 km. The Beninese Collette Ayadé won in 1h 10 min 30 sec before his compatriot Djébékou Bentille (1h 10 min 43 sec). The Ghanaian Rosina Tite took third place with a time of 1h 11 min 39 sec. The first of the Burkinabè Sibdou Nikièma arrived at the 13th place. This first edition brought together nearly 200 marathoners.
