North America based duo of Azira, Kizza engage in opening Uganda Cranes training session

Canadian based left back Mustapha Kizza shed off the jet-lag and fatigue to training since he had arrived in the country a few hours before the opening session at Lugogo in Kampala

AFCON 2021 Qualifiers (Group B):

  • Uganda Cranes Vs Burkina Faso (Wednesday, 24 th  March 2021) – St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende
  • Malawi Flames Vs Uganda Cranes (Monday, 29 th  March 2021) – Bingu National Stadium, Lilongwe

The Uganda Cranes team started their training session ahead of the two up-coming AFCON 2021 qualifiers at home against Burkina Faso and away to Malawi next week.

The two hour training session was conducted at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo under the watchful eyes of coaches Abdallah Mubiru (head), Charles Livingstone Mbabazi (assistant) and Fred Kajoba Kisitu (goalkeeping coach).

Kizza shed off the jet-lag and fatigue to training since he had arrived in the country a few hours before the opening session.

All the players on the the local legion of goalkeeper Charles Lukwago (KCCA), Halid Lwaliwa (Vipers), Garvin Kizito Mugeweri (SC Villa), Murushid Juuko (Express), Ibrahim Orit (Vipers), Bobosi Byaruhanga (Vipers) and Yunus Ssentamu (Vipers) all took part.

The others were goalkeeper Salim Jamal Magoola (Al Hilal Omdurman, Sudan), Mathias Kigonya (Azam FC, Tanzania), Nico Wakiro Wadada (Azam FC, Tanzania), Allan Okello (AC Paradou, Algeria), Allan Kyambadde (El Gouna, Egypt), Taddeo Lwanga (Simba SC, Tanzania), Abdu Lumala (Pyramids FC, Egypt), Emmanuel Okwi (Al Ittihad Alexandria, Egypt) and striker Patrick Kaddu (Youssoufia Berrechid-Tunisia).

The team has been in camp (Cranes Paradise Hotel, Kisaasi) since Thursday, 17th Thursday 2021.

The second training on the field will be held on Sunday, 21st March 2021, still at Lugogo.

Meanwhile, more players are expected to join the camp with the latest crop due on Monday, 22nd March 2021 ahead of the final two training sessions at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Uganda Cranes lies second in group B on seven points, one behind leaders Burkina Faso when they face on Saturday, 20 March 2021.

Malawi and South Sudan come third and fourth respectively.

Only two countries will qualify for the final tournament set to take place in Cameroon come January 2022.
