African Championship: Lobo and Lawrence in Mozambique record mode

Mozambican swimmers Caio Lobo and Matthew Lawrence broke new national records in the 100m breaststroke in seniors and juniors.
16-year-old Caio Lobo set the national record in the 100m breaststroke for juniors at the 14th African Championships in Ghana. He recorded a new time of 1 ’07”69. That is 4 seconds less than the previous reference time.
As for Matthew Lawrence, 18, he broke a record for seniors, but in the 100 meters Mariposa step. The latter improved his previous record of 56s88 with a time of 56s74. A performance which, however, did not allow him to win a medal. He finished in 6th place in the general classification.
The Mozambique national swimming team made its debut on Monday in this 14th edition of the African Junior / Senior Open Water Championships. A competition taking place in Accra, Ghana , and which will last until the 17th of this month.
