African Fencing Championships: Morocco consoles itself with 4 medals

Morocco did not shine too much at home
The Moroccan national fencing team did not particularly shine at the African Championships held in Casablanca (June 15-19).

The representatives of the Cherifian Kingdom could not win a gold medal, Houssam El Kord, their best element, being eliminated in the round of 16. The double African champion and 7th player in the world disappointed against the Ivorian Beugré Paul Alex (9-15).

Morocco is still content with 4 medals (3 silver and one bronze).Morocco’s Youssra Zekrani (91st in the world) won a silver medal in individual foil after her defeat (9-15) in the final against Egypt’s Noura Mhamad (26th in the world).

The women’s national team added another silver medal thanks to Saadia Batsous, Kamilia El Kourd, Chloé Boussfiha and Meryem Bouayadi, who lost in the final to Egypt (30-45).Same charm also for Houssam El Kord, Abdul Karim Al-Houari, Zakaria Roger and Omar Nahi who lost in the final against Egypt (34-45). Morocco also gives up its African title won in Bamako in 2019.
