Afrobasket 2021 (H): Guinea shatters the Rwandan dream

Guinea validates its ticket for the quarter-finals

The adventure stops for Rwanda at Afrobasket 2021. The host country bows in fact against Guinea (68-72), this Monday, August 30, for the quarter-final play-offs. A huge blow for the Rwandans, who hoped to play the quarter-finals of this competition.

The match was played in the last minutes. After a good start for the Rwandans in the first quarter (15-13), Guinea managed to get ahead at half-time (30-31).

But in the third quarter time, Cheikh Sarr’s men had ten points ahead of the national Syli (54-44).

The Guineans snatch the victory in the fourth quarter by slamming a 28-14. Kenny Gasana’s 28 points did not allow Rwanda to go further in this competition.

Guinea will challenge Côte d’Ivoire in the quarter-finals on Wednesday September 1.
