It’s a closing page in basketball history. After 23 seasons, the Spanish legend Pau Gasol is indeed retiring. The 41-year-old pivot announced the news on Tuesday (October 5) at a press conference.
The Californian franchise has, after the player’s announcement, decided to withdraw No. 16 from Gasol, the man with two NBA rings with the Lakers. A way for them to pay homage to their legend. The world of sport has also reacted following the retirement of this great player. Rafael Nadal, Dirk Nowitzki or even NBA president Adam Silver all wanted to pay tribute to him.
The leading scorer in Eurobasket history has led Spain to the top of world basketball. Pau Gasol won everything with La Roja: the World Cup in 2006, three Eurobaskets.
