Bumamuru will represent Burundi at the next CAF Cup. The Cititoke province team got its ticket by winning in front of Flambeau, this Sunday, June 6 at the Gatwaro stadium in Kayanza, in the final of the President’s Cup of the Republic of Burundi. The meeting was held in the presence of the Head of State, Evariste Ndayishimiye .
It is for the first time that a team from Cibitoke represents Burundi in an African competition. The governor of this province indicated that it is a source of pride for the whole locality. He promised to allow Bamamuru not to recruit other experienced players to strengthen his squad. The objective being, according to him, to go as far as possible in the CAF Cup .
Since 2013 and the elimination in the round of 16 of Lydia Ludic Burundi Académy by Stade Malien, no Burundi team has gone beyond the preliminary round of the CAF Cup.
