BURUNDI – Football: Intwari Stadium could still host international matches
Suspended from hosting any meeting of an international competition since March 2021, the Intwari stadium could reopen its doors to international competitions.
This emerged from a tripartite working meeting between the president of the Burundi football federation, the delegation of the town hall of Bujumbura, in the head the mayor of the city without forgetting the representatives of the ministry of sports.
The objective of this meeting was to mobilize all potential resources so that Burundi once again host matches counting for international competitions.
A period of 6 months would only be required to end the accommodations required by CAF instructors for the Intwari Stadium to be approved to host international matches.
The three parties have agreed to pilot fundraising activities, especially to speed up work.
The Intwari Stadium, the only international stadium that Burundi has had was suspended by CAF in the wake of other African stadiums banned from hosting international posters including the Stade des martyrs de la DRC and others.
