CAF Cup: Jaraaf aim for semi-finals

The Dakar Jaraaf achieved a great feat by qualifying for the quarter-finals of the CAF Cup. Better yet, the Senegalese team finished in first place in Group C after their draw on Wednesday against CS Sfaxien (0-0). A great architect of this feat, coach Cheikh Guèye now wants to reach the semi-finals.

Beaten (2-0) at the 1 th day with Etoile Sahel, it was thought that Jaraaf have the same trajectory as the Teungueth FC. Cheikh Guèye’s men pleasantly surprised football enthusiasts beyond the borders of Senegal. Indeed, the Jaraaf of Dakar eliminated the large formation of Sousse with colossal financial means. The Senegalese won first place by going to snatch the draw on the field of CS Sfaxien.

Moreover, the thousands of supporters of Etoile du Sahel are still struggling to digest the defeat in Thiès. Some even demanded the dismissal of Lassaad Dridi. Unimaginable less than a month ago. The Senegalese technician trained at the Spanish school thwarted the two trainings which were given favorites. With 11 points on the clock in such a group, Cheikh Guèye’s Jaraaf showed the face of African football that he had the potential to go far in this CAF Cup.

“We want to be among the top 4 teams”

From now on, the historic club of the Medina of Dakar is advancing without a mask. In Sfax, coach Cheikh GuĂ©ye has set a new goal. He wants to reach the last four of the competition regardless of his opponent on the evening of April 30. â€ś  The confidence is there. Morale too. We remain humble and we continue to work. There is no easy match. Now it will be knockout matches. We know our capacities to better orient ourselves. Our goal is the semi-finals. We want to win our matches to go to the semi-finals. We want to be among the 4 best teams â€ť, supports coach Gueye. In fact, the former coach of SONACOS and Mbour Stadium was far from impressed with his training having completed the 2 E instead.

“Why not go to the final?

Jaraaf’s left-back is on the same path. Better yet, Babacar Seck already dreams of seeing his team in the CAF Cup final. â€ś  We worked hard from the start. We believed in it. We set ourselves the goal of qualifying for the group stage. Now we want to go as far as possible. Why not go to the final? Football is not an exact science. Everything is possible. We can win all our matches as we can lose. We hope that we will win all our next matches, â€ťadds Babacar Seck.
