The 29th CAF Supercup will choose its camp this Friday (4 pm UTC). The trophy will sleep in Egypt or Morocco after the face-to-face meeting between  the Egyptians of Al Ahly  and  the Moroccans of the Sports Renaissance (RS) Berkane  , scheduled at the Jassim Bin Hamad stadium in Doha, Qatar. The first are the winners of the Champions League; the second, the holders of the Confederation Cup.

Al Ahly is widely favorite in this duel for the succession of Zamalek, winner of the 2020 edition . At the head of the Supercopa prize list, with six victories (out of 8 participations), the Egyptians are, in fact, in pole position to gain additional success.

Under the orders of his new coach, the South African Pitso Mosimane , recruited last year, Al Ahly displays a sparkling form. Second in the Egyptian championship, 13 points behind the leader, Zamalek, but with 5 fewer matches, the Cairo team is also qualified in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

A show in front of 4,500 privileged people

In front of this Egyptian machine, the RS Berkane does not leave with the favors of the forecasts. Winner of CAF, the Moroccan team has plunged into the abyss since this brilliant victory. Eliminated from the group stage of this edition of the CAF Cup, Tarik Sektioui’s men are eleventh in the league. The quest for a first Supercup promises to be difficult.

Covid-19 requires, the 2021 edition of the Supercup will take place in a Jassim Bin Hamad stadium filled to 30% of its capacity (15,000 spectators), or 4,500 privileged. Al Ahly knows the pitch well, having played there in the last Club World Cup .
