CAN 2021 / Gr. E: three teams for one ticket
The last two days promise to be thrilling in Group E. The major stake remains the second place that three teams are competing for. Morocco being almost certain to finish in the lead.
Morocco is almost there. Barring a cataclysm, the Atlas Lions will be in the wagon for Cameroon 2021. Vahid Halilhodzic’s men have a large enough margin to quietly qualify for the CAN. Leaders of Group E with 10 points (+8), the Atlas Lions only need one point to secure their ticket. A formality for Hakim Ziyech and company who will travel to Mauritania on March 26 before welcoming Burundi on the 30th.
Mourabitounes (2nd, 5 pts, +0) and Swallows (3rd, 4 pts, -3) who are engaged in an indecisive fight for second place. This is also the big stake in this group where all the last three still have their chances of qualifying. Red lantern, the Central African Republic (3 pts, -5) must, however, achieve a faultless to reverse the trend. Which makes these last two days of the playoffs even more interesting.
