CAN 2021 / Gr. G: it smells good for the Comoros and Egypt
The Comoros and Egypt share the lead in Group G of the CAN 2021 qualifiers. Their closing duel, on March 29, could then sound like a classification match. Coelacanths and Pharaohs can, in fact, validate their ticket from the 5th day. But Kenya, opponent of Salah and company, has not yet said its last word.
The Comoros are closer to CAN 2021 than Egypt by hosting Togo. The Hawks are last of the hen (1 pt-4) and already eliminated. In case of victory, the Coelacanths would realize their dream of playing their first final phase. And, they began to believe in it since their success (2-0) against Kenya, plunging Moroni into an ecstatic atmosphere . “ It was like we won the World Cup. It was a big party, said right-back Said Bakari. And we saw how crazy everyone was. I swear I will never forget that kind of moment. ”
Kenya still in the game
Cameroon is well within reach for the Comorians to experience something much bigger. Before going to shine on the banks of the Nile and conclude in style. However, Egypt currently leads Group G with eight points. Mohamed Salah’s teammates only need a draw in Kenya to qualify. Otherwise, they will need a home victory against Comoros.
But, the Pharaohs do not know the problem of many countries, deprived of their expatriates. With 22 locals out of the 28 players summoned, they have, in fact, most of their strengths. The Liverpool star leads, in particular, the Premier League contingent with Trezeguet of Aston Villa and Elneny of Arsenal.
Mathematically still in the race, Kenya will need two successes to hope to reverse the trend.
