CAN 2021 – Senegal: Aliou Cissé recalls 4 players
Senegal Lions coach Aliou Cissé recalled four reinforcements for the matches against Congo and eSwatini, counting for the 5 th and 6 th days of the CAN 2021 qualifiers.
This is Seny goalkeeper Timothy Dieng (Queens Park Rangers). The latter returned to the national team 7 years later. In 2014, he was called up for a friendly against Colombia, but he could not be fielded.
Ankaragücü midfielder Assane Dioussé is one of the players recalled by Alioune Cissé. The former Saint-Etienne player is a regular at the den.
However, two players will honor their first summons. We can cite the striker of Fatih Karagümrük SK, Alassane Ndao, author of 8 goals in Süper Lig. Finally, there is Khadim Rassoul Joher, midfielder of Adana Demirspor in Turkish D2.
With the refusal of the Professional Football League (LFP) to release players for matches outside the European Union zone, many national teams have revised their list.
This is the case of Senegal, of which 12 of the 26 players summoned play in French Ligue 1 and 2. And this is what explains Cisse’s reinforcements to cope with defections.
The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) even seized CAF and FIFA to be outraged by this discriminatory decision.
Senegal will play against Congo and eSwatini, on March 26 and 30, for the last two days of Group I. The Lions have already qualified for the next CAN in Cameroon.
