Defense Force and Addis Ababa FC, promoted to D1

Defense Force military team returns to Betking Ethiopian Premier League (D1)

Defense Force SC and Addis Ababa FC are promoted next season in the Betking Ethiopian Premier League (EPL). The two teams have indeed finished at the top of the D2, in their respective groups.

Defense Force led Group A with 32 points. The Military were relegated during the 2018/19 EPL season, after a 15-year stint in Ligue 1. DFSC is one of the most successful clubs in Ethiopian football history with 11 coronations. The club have also won the Ethiopia Cup 13 times. And has already participated in the Confederation Cup of CAF, in 2017.

In contrast, Addis Ababa FC was promoted to EPL at the end of the 2015/2016 season. However, the success was short-lived. Because, a bad 2016/2017 campaign, plunged the club relegated to the lower league. Addis Ababa amassed 48 points in Group B, to successfully return to the top flight after 4 years in purgatory.
