The candidate of the Party for Democracy and Environmental Protection in Rwanda [DGPR], Dr Frank Habineza, has assured Rwandans that they are the ones who voted for him in the presidential election, that he will establish a compensation fund for people who have been temporarily detained for more than 30 days. and the law.
This is the message he returned to on Saturday, June 22, 2024, when he launched his campaign for the position of Head of State.
It is an event that took place in Gasabo District, Jabana Sector, Bweramvura Cell, Gitega Village.
This event was scheduled to start at 14:00 but it started more than 40 minutes. The Executive Secretary of the Jabana Sector, Shema Jonas, was the one who welcomed everyone there, and confirmed that the campaign started.
- Dr. Frank Habineza said: “We want to cut injustice in justice, as you know that there are people who are temporarily imprisoned for 30 days, and it is found that they have been in prison for more than a year, and then he came to the trial and came before the judge and found that he was guilty and they released him”.
This is not the case, many of you here are afraid to sue the government, I know, looking at the days when a person is in prison, leaves his family and does not work, or is at work and finds himself fired, etc. This is what the Green Party is going to do, Dr. Frank Habineza continued saying: elections, we promise that we will create a compensation fund for people imprisoned for nothing, what we say is not a false policy, we implement what we say”.
Dr. Frank Habineza, continued to make it clear that he will put effort into justice where he said that the police department (RIB) is where he will focus, “I will start putting effort into the police department, RIB, they should do well and follow the law if someone has to stay for days 5 in the RIB is no more than that, we will put effort into reducing the number of prisoners, we will make it easier, but again we would not punish criminals to find peace in the public, for example, if someone steals a banana, there is no reason to imprison him, but we will reduce the fines he has to pay, this will help us reduce overcrowding in the prison.
This and more Dr. Frank Habineza said on the first day of the campaign, he showed that he is an expert in the military and the environment, asking the people that on the 15th of next month they will vote for him and stop injustice. Regarding the disappearance of people, I have been missing for more than 10 years. I lost a child named Jean Damascene Murwanashyaka, who disappeared in the Bugesera region and we still do not know his whereabouts.
The Party for Democracy and Environmental Protection in Rwanda (DGPR), founded in 2009, was recognized after four years in 2013. In the 2017 presidential election, the party fielded a candidate but did not win the election.
In 2018, this party presented deputy candidates and won the votes to allow two of them to join the Parliament, Senator Alex Mugisha and Dr. Frank Habineza, who have been in this position for six years.
This year, Dr. Frank Habineza of the Green Party, is competing with Paul Kagame, the candidate of the RPF-Inkotanyi and Mpayimana Phillipe who is campaigning as an independent candidate.
