LDC CAF: Esperance Tunis severely sanctioned
Bad news for the champions of Tunisia 2021 . The CAF Disciplinary Commission pulled out the stick to sanction Esperance Tunis. The Tunisian team pays the excesses of its fans in the semi-final first leg of the Champions League against Al Ahly. The body has indeed imposed on the club four matches behind closed doors, two of which are suspended and a fine of 50,800 euros.
The Disciplinary Commission is also keeping the pressure on the Esperantists. It therefore notes that ” any recurrence, over the next two years, will be punishable by two matches behind closed doors.”
On June 19, thousands of supporters of Bab Souika’s training notably stormed the Radès stadium to celebrate the return of the public after a year of waiting. Unfortunately, there had been scuffles between law enforcement and some over-excited fans. The semi-final first leg against the Egyptians of Al Ahly was then postponed by one hour.
Still, Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly had even won (0-1) before inflicting a correction (3-0) on the Tunisians during the return match in Cairo on June 25
