LDC – CAF: TP Mazembe collapses in Belouizdad
The last hopes of TP Mazembe fly away at CR Belouizdad. Blame it on Amir Sayoud (84th) and Youssef Bechou (86th), scorers, in quick succession in two minutes, towards the end of regulation time. With, each time, Ahmed Gasmi to the pass. The Algerian club thus eliminates the Congolese and doubles Al Hilal Omdurman in second place in group B. Belouizdad will however have to go get his ticket in Pretoria, at the ogre Mamelodi Sundowns.
TP Mazembe deplored the absence of five internationals during his trip to CR Belouizdad. And, Pamphile Mihayo could not rely on Mika Micée, who has just returned from injury.
Ahmed Gasmi double passer
Despite everything, TP Mazembe manages to hold the shock against CR Belouizdad until the dying minutes. While the men of Moïse Katumbi thought to return with the point of draw, Ahmed Gasmi enters the scene.
Entered in the 73rd minute in place of Hamza Bellahouel, he ideally finds Amir Sayoud (84th) for the opener. He does it again two minutes later for Youssef Bechou (86th). To think that the latter entered at the same time as Gasni while Sayoud had preceded them by 15 minutes. He notably took the place of Bilal Tarikat in the 58th minute.
Temporary workers do the job
It is therefore from the bench that the interim Slimane Raho and Karim Bekhti found the solution. And, it must be said that the mission seemed complicated for the successors of Franc Dumas . They are, in fact, thrown in the bath just two days after the departure of the French technician, of which they were the assistants.
The Ravens will therefore not see the quarter-finals of the Champions League this year. A blow for one of the most beautiful achievements in African football. The Tout Puissant Mazembe has, in particular, five CAF Champions Leagues (1967, 1968, 2009, 2010, 2015); three CAF Supercup, an African Cup winners’ Cup (1980); as well as two Confederation Cups (2016, 2017).
