Ligue 1-Senegal: altercation between the police and the supporters |
The Jaraaf-AS Pikine meeting (9th day of Senegalese Ligue 1) this Sunday, December 11, was interrupted in the 65th minuteof play (1-0 for Jaraaf). This, because of an altercation between the Pikinois supporters and the police. The cause of this confrontation? a stand deemed too small for the hundreds of Pikinois supporters who came to encourage their club.
“ The supporters were crammed into this small part of the stand. The police divided the space given to supporters in two. When they wanted to reduce this space further, things got out of hand. The security forces chased our supporters from the stadium by throwing tear gas canisters at them. It’s awful ,” said one of the club’s leaders, Famara Soly.
According to information from the reporter on the club’s YouTube channel , the president of the supporters, Mor Talla Guèye, has been arrested.
“ They hurt a lot of young people who just wanted to quietly support their club. I am very ashamed. I cannot say certain things because I represent the club. It’s a shameful situation ”, regretted the president of AS Pikine, Mamadou Guèye.
