It goes easily for the reigning Olympic gold medalist in the women’s 1500m. Indeed, it is with great ease that the Kenyan Faith Kipyegon won her ticket for the semi-finals in Tokyo after qualifying. It thus finished, this Monday, first of its series.
Remaining in the leading pack most of the time, she accelerated on the last lap and finished the race in the lead with a time of 4’01”40.
Faith Kipyegon is not, however, the only African qualified for the semi-finals of this event. Ugandan Nanyondo (2nd in the series) will also be in the game. Arriving just behind the 2017 world champion, the latter clocked 4’02”24.
