2020 Olympics: Shaun Maswanganyi wins double qualifying
Shaun Maswanganyi validates his 100m and 200m qualification for the Olympics
The South African sprint will be well represented at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Shaun Maswanganyi has indeed just won a double qualification for the 100 and 200 m events.
The 20-year-old athlete clocked 20 ’19’ ‘over 200m and 10’04’ ‘over 100m. It was during the preliminary round of the NCAA West which was notably held in Texas, United States.
In the first round, Maswanganyi even came close to breaking South Africa’s national record in the 100m. He is currently owned by Akani Simbine (9’89 ”). Maswanganyi is also the third South African to validate his ticket for the Jo after Simbine, Tlotliso Gift Leotlela and Clarence Munyai .
A native of Soweto, the young prodigy is currently a resident of the University of Houston (United States)
