OM: Mohamed Simakan explains his departure
Mohamed Simakan did his pre-training at OM. But the 20-year-old defender has never signed a professional contract with the Phocaeans. “In 2015, I was in pre-training, and either I became an aspirant, or I was given an amateur contract. This is what we did not agree with OM, ”says Simakan, in an interview with Canal +. The native of Marseille and his entourage then decided to leave Cannebière for Alsace.
The Franco-Guinean thus signs in Strasbourg which makes him play in Ligue 1 from the age of 18. Two seasons later, he is undoubtedly a part of Thiery Laurey, coach of the Alsatians. However, he remains attached to OM. “I am a child from Marseille, I was born there, I was a supporter. It’s a club that stays in my heart, ” says the one who will play the season in Leipzig. He has, in fact, signed a contract with the German club which spent 17 million euros to enlist him.
