Zambia: Leader of the Opposition Wins Presidential Election

Zambia continues to shock crowds after the country’s Electoral Commission confirmed that this week’s presidential election ended with the winner being the main candidate of the opposition, Hakainde Hochilema.
Mr Hichilema has reportedly won more than a million votes over his ouster, ousted President Edgar Lungu.
Hichilema had 2, 810, 777 votes in the 1, 814, 201, Lungu vote in the August 12, 2021. Election, with about seven million registered voters.
Esau Chulu, head of the Electoral Commission, said the results of the election in Lusaka were “so amazing that Hocholema is the president of Zambia”.
According to reports, this is the sixth time Mr. Hichilema has tried to run for president of Zambia.
Supporters continue to celebrate his victory on the streets of the capital Lusaka, according to the BBC
