Jaouad Syoud sets a new 200m . The Algerian swimmer even beat his own performance. He clocked 2 minutes and 1 second in the “A” final of the Marseille Open. His previous time was 2 min 1 sec and 76 cents. Still, he finished fourth in the Open “A” final.
But, he improved his time by 76 hundredths. However, the 21-year-old swimmer can console himself with his qualification for the 100-meter butterfly long course (50m) at the Tokyo Olympics, following his time of 53.26.
“This time is also considered as a minimum” B “for the 2021 Worlds in short course (25m), scheduled for December in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) and for the Worlds in long course (50 m), which will take place in May 2022 in Fukuoka (Japan) ”, we read.
