This Friday, August 20, the President of Tunisia Kais Saied decorated the two Tunisian athletes who won medals at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games.
The Head of State presented the Medal of the First Order of Sports Merit to the Olympic champion in the 400m swimming, Ahmed Ayoub Hafnaoui (18 years old). The ceremony took place at the Palace of Carthage.
The Tunisian swimming prodigy won the gold medal with a time of 3min43sec3 ahead of the Australian Jack McLoughlin (3mn43s52) and the American Kieran Smith (3mn43s94) in the Japanese capital.
As for Khalil Jendoubi, he received the Second Medal for Sports Merit. In the under 58 kg category, the taekwondoist won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics at age 19. He lost in the final to the Italian Vito d’Aquila.
