Mohemed Salah set to miss first day of Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers
It is now official. The Premier League has decided not to release several players for the World Cup qualifiers which begin in September. The English clubs were in fact meeting on Tuesday, August 24, to harmonize their positions.
This decision concerns players from countries placed on the red list of Great Britain including Egypt. The latter is in fact classified by England in the category of countries at risk of spreading the Delta variant of the coronavirus.
The Pharaohs will thus have to do without Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah and Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny. A huge blow for the Egyptians who face Angola on September 2 and Gabon on September 7.
