The Memorial Agnes Tirop World Cross Country Gold Tourheld in Eldoret (Kenya) turned into a replica of the Kenyan National Championships. And for good reason, this race dedicated to Tirop, was won by two local runners. Samuel Chebolei and Joyce Chepkemoi were imperial over the 10 km.
Chepkemoi cut the ribbon in 34’02. While Chebolei ran 29’46 for men. “I’m happy to have won the National Cross Country
Championships and now the Agnes Tirop Memorial World. I participated in the race in honor of Agnès Tirop who is my friend. We worked a lot at the Kenya team training camp,” Chebolei said after his win.
Agnes Tirop was found dead, murdered in her home in Iten on October 13 last year.
