Zambia-World 2022: Ngonga among the 30 Chipolopolo selected
Zambia’s Chipolopolo are already looking towards qualifying for the 2022 World Cup. Moreover, the interim national coach has published a list of 30 local players for an internship whose duration has not been determined.
The Chiopolopolo are already in training for the qualifications for the 2022 World Cup which start next September. Interim coach Beston Chambeshi has summoned 30 local players to start work in particular, while waiting for the professionals. This course began this Thursday August 5 in Lusaka.
But no duration noted about this preparation. The coach will therefore have the opportunity to get a better idea of the behavior of some in order to detect the players likely to integrate the final group of Chipolopolo in September.
Striker Alex Ngonga is the big attraction on Beston Chambeshi’s list, however. The latter makes his return to the selection, 3 years after leaving the Chipolopolo. Nkana striker (Zambian D1) returns for the first time since 2018.
His comeback at Chipolopolo comes after scoring 8 goals in his first three months at FC Nkana, 13 times Zambian champions. He had just signed for the squad in April 2021, with Ngongo coming in from arch rivals Power Dynamos as a free agent.
In Group B of the World Cup qualifiers, Zambia will also be, alongside Mauritania, Equatorial Guinea and Tunisia.
The Chipolopolo will face the Mourabitounes of Mauritania on the first day on September 1 in Nouchakott before hosting Tunisia on September 5 in Ndola.
The third and fourth days are sche💃duled for October. Zambia will face Equatorial Guinea in a double confrontation.
