2022 World Cup – Group C: Nigeria’s big deal in Cape Verde (2-1)
Nigeria wins in Cape Verde 1
Nigeria performs well in Cape Verde
By winning (2-1) Tuesday in Mindelo against Cape Verde (2-1), Nigeria confirmed the success obtained on September 3 in Lagos against Liberia (2-0). This victory allows the Super Eagles to take the lead in Group C with 6 points, ahead of Liberia (3), Central African Republic and Cape Verde (1).
The Nigerians were able to react quickly to the opening scoring of Dylan Tavares (19 th) by equalizing just before the half hour mark thanks to Victor Osimhen, the striker for Naples (Italy).
Although deprived of many players playing in England, banned from travel to Cape Verde (the country is on the red list established by the British authorities, note), the Super Eagles made the difference a quarter of the end of the match after Kenny Rocha Santos unwittingly cheated on his own goalkeeper.
Gernot Rohr’s players will face the Central African Republic twice next October, while Cape Verde will face Liberia.
