𝐑𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚 calls for stronger South-South cooperation at OACPS Council of Ministers Meeting

Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, is participating in the 121st Session of the Council of Ministers of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), where member states are discussing key priorities aimed at strengthening cooperation and advancing shared development goals.

The ministerial session is focusing on the implementation of the Malabo Declaration, institutional reforms within the OACPS, the operationalisation of the Samoa Agreement, and enhanced coordination on issues of common interest in multilateral forums.

Addressing the meeting, Minister Nduhungirehe underscored the importance of the OACPS as a platform that promotes practical cooperation among developing countries.

He said the organization’s greatest strength lies in fostering South-South cooperation and enabling its member states to coordinate positions on global issues.

The minister stressed that by working together, countries from Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific can amplify their collective voice and better advance shared priorities in global governance, climate action and sustainable development.

He noted that stronger collaboration among OACPS members is essential to ensuring their interests are effectively represented in international decision-making processes while promoting inclusive and sustainable development.

The Council of Ministers meeting brings together representatives from OACPS member states to review progress on the organization’s strategic priorities and strengthen partnerships that support economic development, regional integration and international cooperation
