CAN 2021 / Gr E: it smells scorched for Mauritania
Morocco had nothing to lose in Mauritania. The Atlas Lions were, in fact, already qualified even before setting foot on the lawn. A qualification validated by the draw (2-2) between Burundi and the Central African Republic in the early afternoon. The pressure was therefore on the side of the Mourabitounes. But even at home, the men of Corentin Martins were without solution. The two teams leave, in fact, on a 0-0.
A far from ideal scenario for Ismaël Diakité and company. They must now go to Bangui to win directly a second consecutive qualification in CAN. Another result could suit Burundi, which will be in Morocco . However, the Mauritanians have not won any away match in these qualifiers of the CAN 2021 qualifiers . They went 0-0 in Morocco and sank in Bujumbura (3-1). Worrisome?
