Morocco – Division 1: Tangier separates from Bernard Casoni,Bernard Casoni sacked from IRT Tangier
Bernard Casoni sacked
Bernard Casoni is no longer the trainer of Ittihad Riyadi de Tanger (IRT). The French technician was dismissed following the poor results of the Detroit club at the start of the season. In eight days, the northerners have only one victory for two draws and five defeats. The last one was too many. They were corrected by the Renaissance Sportive Berkane at the 8 th day (4-1). A setback which pushed the management of the club to separate from the French coach.
But it was not until Monday that club leaders officially informed the French coach. The Tangier Itihad will be led by coach Jaafar Al-Rakik. Bernard Casoni had however succeeded last season to revive Mouloudia d’Oujda (MCO), after a disastrous start to the season. His arrival at the IRT had raised a lot of expectations. But the club, in financial difficulties, failed to achieve the hoped-for start to the season.
According to the daily Al Massah , this dismissal could cost the IRT dearly since Bernard Casoni would claim 1.6 million dirhams from the club, or 150,000 euros. A difficult sum to pay for a club which has already seen its players go on strike due in particular to unpaid salaries.
