Rafael York midfielder Rafael York will not feature in the Rwanda-Kenya match on Sunday, November 14, 2021, after leaving his teammates in Nairobi and immediately returning to Sweden.
York, who plays for AFC Eskilstuna, was one of the Wolves’ players heading to Kenya on Friday, but has already flown to Sweden but was scheduled to return on Tuesday, November 16th.

According to reports, York has been at loggerheads with his teammates over the loss of Sugira Ernest, the No. 16 striker in the national team.

He is also said to have asked the coaches if there were any other strikers for the National Team, which was poorly received.

However, the news reaching Africa News24 is credible that all the allegations have a source because they are no longer rumored to be “no player has said bad things about York”, but they have seen him leave on Saturday morning and do not know why.

One of the leaders of the Football Association of Rwanda (FERWAFA) told Africa News24 “Rafael York has already arrived in Sweden” but they do not know why he left.

Rafael York was first called up to the Wolves in June during the preparation for the two friendly matches of the National Team against Central Africa.

However, he did not attend the invitation at the time and when he arrived at the National Team in August, he canceled the Mali-Kenya match because he had not yet received the necessary documents to play for Rwanda. He was asked to wait for the third day’s Group E match when Rwanda hosted Uganda in October, playing only the first half as a left-handed striker.

At the time, Branch coach was criticized for replacing the player, who was reportedly among the best players and there were reports that Rafael York was unhappy with the decision and how he was played in a special role.

With Rwanda losing 3-0 to Mali on Thursday, November 11, 2021, Rafael York was first replaced by Nishimwe Blaise in the 65th minute.

York added to Haruna Niyonzima who had family reasons, Bizimana Djihad with a red card, Imanishimwe Emmanuel who was broken and Nsengiyumva Isaac who has COVID-19 as Amavubi players who will not be available for the Kenya match.

The final day (Saturday) of Group E has little to say about Rwanda’s final with one point while Kenya have three points in third place.
