Volleyball: Rwandan Mukunzi dismissed for CAN

Christophe Mukunzi is not selected for the 2021 African Nations Championships . The new coach of the selection Paulo de Tarso has indeed, removed from his final group.

Mukunzi, 33, did not impress the Brazilian technician in training. In the national team since 2011, Mukunzi had become the icon of Rwandan volleyball. The iconic captain was part of the group that finished 4th at the 2011 and 2015 African Games. It was respectively in Mozambique and Congo-Brazzaville.

At the club level, Mukunzi has won several accolades over the past 15 years, including league titles with Gisagara and Rwanda Energy Group. He also made professional passages in Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey and Bulgaria.

Rwanda will notably host the African Championships – men and women – from September 5 to 20, at the iconic Kigali Arena.
