Robert Kabera Murder in Mpigi: Ex-Rwandan Soldier Found Beheaded in Uganda
Robert Kabera, a former Rwandan soldier and YouTuber known as Sergeant Robert, was found murdered in Luwala village, Kammengo Sub-county, Mpigiict, Uganda.

His brother Victor Agaba said Kabera arrived from Kampala on the evening of October 16. He went to a nearby bar with his boda boda rider. At around 11:30pm he returned home to collect his phone and left again. He did not return.
On October 17 at around 2pm, the village defense secretary informed Agaba that a headless body had been found in the brush near a eucalyptus plantation where Kabera was building a house. Agaba identified the body by a scar on the right thumb and shoes found nearby.
Ugandan police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke confirmed the case as murder. He said the killers took the head and it has not yet been recovered. The case is being investigated by police at Kammengo with support from detectives in Kampala. No suspects have been announced as of today, 27 October 2026.
Kabera was 50 years old. He fled Rwanda in November 2020, saying he faced political persecution. In Uganda he ran a YouTube channel called Major Robert TV with 144,000 subscribers, where he criticized President Paul Kagame.
Three years ago, Human Rights Watch in its report “Join Us or Die” warned that Kabera was on a list of Rwandan exiles at risk.
Victor Agaba said his brother had no problems in Uganda. He said, “Our problem comes from home. The army created a criminal case against him. It was a witch hunt.”
The Rwandan government has not commented on the murder.
