Two weeks after the headless body of former Rwandan was found dumped in a eucalyptus bush in Luwala village, Kammengo Sub-county, Mpigi District, Ugandan police say they have “no suspects, no re head, and no motive” confirmed.

Kabera, 50, a former Sergeant Major in the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) who became a vocal critic of Kigali on his YouTube channel “Major Robert TV” (144k subscribers)”, was found on “October 17, 2026”. Police spokesperson “Kituuma Rusoke” confirmed the body was identified by relatives and the case registered as murder.
> “Robert had no issues with anyone in Uganda. Our problem comes from home… The army created a criminal case against him. It was a witch hunt,” his brother “Victor Agaba” told AFP.
– The Head Still Missing: Police confirm the killers took the head and it has not been recovered, complicating forensic investigation.
– HRW Warning Ignored: Human Rights Watch had listed Kabera in its 2023 report “Join Us or Die”: Rwanda’s Extraterritorial Repression” as being on a “death list” of exiles at risk. Three years later, the warning came true.
– No Comment From Kigali: The Rwandan government has not commented on the killing. Uganda says investigation continues.
Kabera fled Rwanda several years ago after being declared a fugitive over accusations he denies. He later used music, including a song praising opposition figure “Victoire Ingabire“, and political commentary to criticize President Paul Kagame.
His killing mirrors the 2021 murder of former Lt. Revocant Karemangingo in Mozambique, also suspected of supporting opposition.
Family Appeal: The family is now asking Ugandan authorities to hand over the body for burial and for an independent international investigation.
